TIFTON — The Tift County All-Stars will play for the championship today when they meet up with Calhoun in the Georgia Recreation and Park Association Class AB baseball finals at E.B. Hamilton Complex.
Tift and Calhoun will clash at 11 a.m. This will be a rematch of a Thursday morning game between the two teams.
Calhoun won Thursday morning’s semifinal, 9-1, which sent the locals to the consolation bracket. Tift made it back to the finals with a 10-9 victory over Dublin-Laurens.
Tift County started the playoffs on fire, defeating Butts County Tuesday by a 16-0 score. Wednesday, they smashed Clayton County, 26-1.
Calhoun drew a first round bye, then defeated Grady County, 11-2, setting up the first meeting with Tift.
Should Tift County win this morning, the teams will play each other again at 2:30 p.m. If the locals fall, Calhoun wins the tournament.
