TIFTON — Tift County will host a pair of Georgia Recreation and Park Association state tournaments next week at E.B. Hamilton Complex.

Tift County team will participate in the 10U live pitch baseball tourney. No local teams will be in the 12U softball bracket.

In baseball, Tift is set to host Butts County Tuesday at 5 p.m. On the date at 5:30 p.m., Grady County will play Dublin-Laurens. The Tift-Butts winner is to face Clayton County Wednesday at 10 a.m. Either Grady or Dublin will vie against Calhoun Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

The tournament is double elimination and a team can battle back through the consolation bracket to win the title.

For softball, there will be three games Tuesday. At 4 p.m., Lee County plays Douglas-Coffee. At 5:30 p.m. will be Bainbridge against Wayne County and at 7 p.m., Swainsboro-Emanuel goes against Whitfield County. The Lee-Douglas winner will play against Lyons on Wednesday. The winners of the other two Tuesday games will play each other Wednesday.

The softball tournament will wrap Thursday. Baseball’s finals will be Friday.
