OCILLA — Two members of the Class A state champion Irwin County Indians inked deals Wednesday as part of college football’s National Signing Day. D.J. Lundy is going to Florida State while Jamorri Colson will play for Iowa Western.
Lundy, who picked up many late major offers to play collegiately, rushed for 4,030 yards at Irwin County. He played for three region championship teams and won one state championship.
As a wrestler, Lundy has won four area titles. He is a two-time defending state champion and this weekend qualified yet again for the finals. Through Wednesday, his record was 110-4.
Colson was an all-around athlete on the football in Ocilla, gaining a total of 756 rushing yards and 1,084 receiving yards. Colson scored eight touchdowns on the ground and 18 through the air. He also had 20 interceptions in his career. Like Lundy, he was on region title teams and last year’s championship squad.
In basketball, Colson has 1,687 points and counting. He was part of last year’s region title team that made the state semifinals.
Both athletes were head coached by the late Buddy Nobles on the football field.
