OCILLA — Irwin County has picked up a football game for this Friday. The Indians have announced they will travel to Cook for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff against the Hornets.
Irwin was originally scheduled to be open this week and Cook was to have played Pelham. Pelham, however, is now in COVID-19 quarantine, which left Cook with a sudden opening. This will be the first time the teams have played since 2003, when both were members of Region 2-AA.
Both enter 0-1. Cook fell in its Sept. 4 opener to Ware County, 38-6. Irwin was defeated last week by Fitzgerald, 21-6.
