TIFTON — The Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane will look to get back on track tonight, hosting Dooly County. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
Fitzgerald (1-1), fell prey to Irwin County’s juggernaut by a 35-8 final last week, the largest margin of victory for the Indians in the series since 1995. They’ll take on a Bobcats squad (1-1) that fell to Worth County last week, 37-7.
Mario Clark ran for Fitzgerald’s lone touchdown. Irwin led 14-0 at the half.
The Hurricane-Bobcats series has been a good one for Fitzgerald. They haven’t lost any of the three games. Last year’s contest ended 27-26, but Dooly’s roster has been hit hard by graduation.
In addition to being youthful, Dooly’s players will be playing through some upheaval. The Cordele Dispatch reported Wednesday that head coach Ashley Harden has stepped down from the position and that Quinnen Peavy will take over the post as an interim. Harden was hired earlier this year.
After Dooly, the Hurricane will head north. They are to go to Upson-Lee.
