The Cook High Hornets football team have a chance to start a second-half turnaround with a win over the Albany Indians Friday.
The Hornets (1-4) wil host an Indians team that has been outscored 198-7 in the past five games. The Region 1-AA game should give the Hornets a chance to get a firm footing heading into the second half of the season after a disappointing start.
A combination of injuries, fumbles and new offensive and defensive lines has led to a slow start for the Hornets. After making the playoffs each year since 1999, Cook has dropped games to Colquitt County (28-0), Worth County (20-6) and Early County (34-14). The Hornets beat Randolph-Clay 32-13 but lost a heartbreaker last week to Thomasville 26-24.
Albany comes to Adel looking for direction. After starting with a 27-18 loss to Lanier County, the Indians have suffered blowouts in every contest since. They have lost to Westover (33-0), Berrien (34-0), Thomasville (41-7), Brooks County (34-0) and Fitzgerald (56-0).
