VALDOSTA - Tift County hit three more home runs and handed the Lowndes Vikettes their first region loss of the season Thursday night. Tift won the first game 2-1, with Lowndes taking the second by a 4-1 score.

TIFTON — The Tift County Blue Devils' football absence will extend at least one more week. The Tift County School System announced Saturday that the team won't be playing at Thomas County Central next Friday.

TIFTON — Tift County Schools Superintendent Adam Hathaway has issued an update regarding the football program Friday afternoon. The team had been scheduled to face Valdosta Friday night, but canceled hours before kickoff because of positive COVID-19 cases on the team.

CHULA — Tiftarea Academy broke a close game open Tuesday night in beating Westwood. Up 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Panthers added five runs to coast to victory.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons cut former first-round pick Laquon Treadwell and two quarterbacks Saturday as they got down to the 53-man roster limit for the regular season.

CORDELE - Defense was king Friday night as Tift County visited Crisp County to start the 2020 high school football season. The Cougars scored a first quarter touchdown and, well, that was it for the evening. Crisp won 7-0 as neither side had much success moving the football.
