TIFTON — Authorities have identified a body at the center of a homicide investigation in Tift County.
The Tift County Coroner’s Office was called out to Ira Drive early Monday, May 24, after someone located a body outdoors, said Deputy Coroner Joseph Thompson.
The body was identified as that of Rodrigo Francisco Juan, 43, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.
“The manner of death was consistent with gunshot wounds,” although the official cause of death is pending, Thompson said.
Tifton police called in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to process the crime scene and take over the investigation, the coroner said.
The body has been taken to the GBI’s headquarters in Decatur for an autopsy, Thompson said.
The GBI reports a red, two-door 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck was stolen from the scene. It has a license tag number of RXM2208.
