TIFTON — Tift Regional Health System (TRHS) has merged the Center for Healing and Wellness with Tift Family Medicine to form a new primary care practice in Tifton.

The new practice, called the Southwell Center for Healing and Wellness, is located in Tifton at 39 Kent Road, Suite 2, in the Cypress Pointe Professional Park.  Family nurse practitioners Deidre Dorman, and Tess Goodwin are available to provide primary care for the entire family. The newly revamped clinic started seeing patients on Nov. 4.

“The Center for Healing and Wellness was recently acquired by Tift Regional from family physician Dr. Lora Efaw,” said Andrea Heath, TRHS director of specialty clinics.  “Over the years, Dr. Efaw and her staff have built a solid practice known for quality care and a focus on total wellbeing.  Dr. Efaw is going to stop practicing medicine for now to focus on her health, but may return in the future.  Dr. Efaw’s clinic staff, including family nurse practitioner Tess Goodwin, FNP-C, have joined the Tift Regional family.”

Tift Family Medicine, another TRHS-owned primary care clinic, was previously located in Tifton at 907 E. 18th Street, Suite 130.  Dorman provided primary care under the medical supervision of Dr. Kent Burton.

“Deidre has a loyal patient base because of her skilled and kindhearted care,” said Heath.  “There definitely was synergy between the two clinics, so we thought it made sense to merge them together.  Dr. Burton will provide medical direction over the combined practices.”

Heath said the new clinic’s goal is to help patients achieve optimal health through promoting healthy lifestyle and disease prevention. “The team cares for patients when they are sick and when they are well, striving to provide topnotch, compassionate care through open communication and respect for concerns,” she said.

Services include primary care for family members of all ages, routine checkups, hormone replacement therapy, health-risk assessments, immunizations, screening tests, chronic disease management, and more.  Paige Pollock will serve as the practice manager.
