TIFTON – A 15-year-old girl shot Wednesday has died and a 14-year-old has been charged in her death, according to the Tifton Police Department.
Autumn Connell, 15, of Tifton died Thursday from a gunshot wound, police said in the statement.
She was shot at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, on the 1100 block of Lee Avenue. Connell was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center before being transferred in critical condition to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., where she died Thursday, police said.
A 14-year-old was arrested and is charged with felony murder, police said. The juvenile's name has not been released.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to Autumn’s family," Tifton police said in the statement. "As we seek to understand the reason why something like this has happened to another one of our children, we must come together as a community to work together."
