TIFTON – The Tift-area Veterans Day observance will be held 11 a.m., Nov. 11, at Veteran's Park downtown.
Veterans Day is sometimes confused with Memorial Day. Veterans Day is focused on recognizing the sacrifices of all service members and veterans and Memorial Day is focused on recognizing those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and lost their lives in the Armed Services.
The event will feature a flag-raising ceremony with TAPS and will recognize the service from members of the six Armed Forces.
The keynote speaker will be Representative Austin Scott of Georgia's Eighth Congressional District.
The event in Veteran's Park downtown has happened for many years, said Jack Stone, who has attended the event and helped organize it.
Social distancing will be in place and attendees are asked to wear a mask where social distancing can't be practiced.
