TIFTON — The Tifton Fire Department responded to two structure fires this week.
The first fire was reported at 1:20 a.m. on Oct 1 at a home located in the 100 block of Lewis Street.
TFD personnel arrived at the location within four minutes and had the fire controlled in 23 minutes.
The report states that all occupants were out of the house and that the fire, which has been ruled accidental, was contained to the crawl space under the home.
The second fire, which was at a residence located in the 100 block of Branch Street, was called in at 12:09 a.m. on Oct. 2.
The report states that the initial call reported an explosion and smoke. TFD personnel arrived within four minutes of the call and saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the house, which was unoccupied at the time. The fire was controlled approximately 40 minutes later.
An initial investigation pointed to a possible wiring issue being the cause of the fire, which started near the living room area.
