TIFTON — The Tifton Salvation Army is planning on holding a Milk A Palooza event at the Tifton Mall on Friday, July 10 beginning at 9 a.m.
According to Kelley Bedore, director of the Salvation Army Service Center, they are planning on distributing gallons of milk to the community while supplies last.
“One of our biggest passions is feeding the hungry, so what better way to do that than providing a healthy drink like milk to our community,” Bedore said. “Trying to find nutritious, affordable food to put on the table has been a constant struggle for many of our neighbors, and the COVID-19 pandemic has only intensified their need.”
Those who are in need will be able to choose between a gallon of whole milk or a gallon of 2% milk.
While there are no eligibility requirements to receive the milk, those picking up are asked to stay in their vehicles and adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines, such as social distancing and wearing masks.
The event is sponsored by the USDA and Borden Dairy, who is planning on sending the Borden Milkman as a representative.
“We would like to extend a huge thank you to Borden Dairy and the USDA for their support and incredible partnership,” Bedore said. “We are proud to stand together with both of these organizations in these unprecedented times in doing the most good for the Tifton community.”
The Tifton Salvation Army is planning to hold similar events in the future.
