TIFTON — A new homeschooling opportunity is now available in Tifton.

Classical Conversations’ Tifton campus  will be under the direction of Jaclyn Bennett, according to a press release. Jaclyn is married to Eddie Bennett, and they have three children. The Bennett family began their homeschooling journey four years ago.

“We were looking for an alternative to traditional school,”  said Jaclyn Bennett in the release. “We needed a way to educate our children outside of the box.”

The Bennetts chose Classical Conversations because, for their family, it was a new way of thinking about education.

“Classically educating our children appealed to us but seemed overwhelming. When we learned about Classical Conversations, we were overjoyed to find an organization with like-minded values, and they provided tools to create the type of atmosphere we wanted at home,” Jaclyn said.

In their pursuit of classically educating their children, the Bennett’s traveled to a community group in a neighboring town. However, Jaclyn felt Tifton had a void that needed to be filled and Classical Conversations has made educating her children at home attainable and wants to share that opportunity with other families, the release states.

“As the program grows, we have the potential to graduate young adults who are thinkers, leaders, and firm in their faith. The impact on our community could affect the future of Tifton,” Jaclyn said.

Classical Conversations offers a Christ-centered, classically modeled curriculum, the release states. Community members meet weekly, where parents are equipped with tools to assist them as they teach their children at home.

The Tifton community meets on Wednesdays at First Baptist Church Tifton. It currently offers the Foundations programs for students ages 4-11. Each Foundations class is made up of up to eight students in approximately the same age group and is led by a trained parent tutor. Students and parents attend this class together.

From 9:30 a.m. to noon, the tutor leads the class in five 30-minute segments that cover new memory work, a science project, a fine arts activity, public speaking and memory work review time. The memory work includes history, Latin, science, English grammar, geography and math.

Anyone interested in finding out more can contact Jaclyn Bennett at 229-402-4159. An open house is scheduled for October 30, and the public is asked to RSVP by October 23.
