TIFTON — A 59-year-old white male from Tallahassee, Fla. died in a single vehicle wreck early Monday morning on Interstate 75 in Tift County, near mile marker 71.
Trooper William Hunt with the Georgia State Patrol Tifton post said the accident happened at 6:20 a.m.
The victim, driving a 1997 Camaro, was heading south when he left the roadway and went to the right. He then overcorrected, came back across and hit the center median. The vehicle went back to the right and came to rest in the right lane.
The victim died on the scene, says Hunt. He wasn't wearing a seat belt but wasn't ejected from the vehicle.
The name of the victim hasn't been released yet, because authorities haven't gotten in contact with the next of kin. Hunt says they do not know at this time what caused the victim to leave the roadway.
