TIFTON — Two men were arrested on drug charges this week, according to the Tift County Sheriff’s Office.
A 38-year-old Doraville man was pulled over in Cook County by the Georgia State Patrol for traffic offenses, leading to a request for help from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office’s K9 unit, according to a statement from the Tift County Sheriff’s Office.
About 46 pounds of marijuana plus cash were recovered during the stop, authorities said. The suspect is charged with trafficking marijuana and traffic offenses, according to the sheriff’s office.
Later that day, a 41-year-old Tifton man was arrested after another traffic stop in Tift County, leading to a short pursuit by deputies, the statement said.
The deputies seized another 46 pounds of marijuana plus currency during the stop, the sheriff’s office said. He is charged with trafficking marijuana and traffic offenses, authorities said.
Based on the arrests, community tips and an investigation, a search warrant was obtained for a location on Lake Larry Drive in Tift County which resulted in six more pounds of marijuana and other narcotics being seized, according to the sheriff’s office.
