Evelyn C. Greer
TIFTON - Evelyn Chipman Greer, 75, of Tifton, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Eastside Baptist Church. The Rev. Calvin Bobo and the Rev. Jim Wiley will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class at Eastside Baptist Church.
The body will lie in state at the church for one hour before services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kingdom Expansion Fund, Eastside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 540, Tifton 31793, or to Hospice of TiftArea, 802 E. 20th St., P.O. Box 747, Tifton 31793.
Born Feb. 16, 1926, in Mooringsport, La., Mrs. Greer was the daughter of Herbert Perry Chipman and Vida Blanche Brossette Chipman, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Allen Hudson Greer, and by one sister, Lillian Pinkard.
A longtime resident of Tifton, she was retired from the ASCS office and was the bookkeeper at Pittman Auto Supply. She was a member of Blanche Chapter #8 of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of Eastside Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Adult Choir and the Ruth Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Greer is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Greer of Tifton and Randy and Lynn Greer of Norman Park; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Sonny Williams and Teri and Mark Mathis, all of Tifton; a brother-in-law, Merle Pinkard of Oil City, La.; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Mollie Jo Greer of Tifton; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lorene and Pat Lewis of Cold Springs, Texas, and Billie Jean Sullivan of Columbia, Miss.; her grandchildren, Ronald Greer and Jessica Greene, Nick Greer, Al and Michelle Greer, Mandy, Sommer and Trey Williams and Brent and Ashley Mathis; and several nieces and nephews.
Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors' Tiftarea Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Marie W. Griffin, 72, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, in Irwin County. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Salem Baptist Church in Ben Hill County, with burial at Salem Cemetery. Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband, Alvin Griffin of Fitzgerald; two daughters, Barbara G. Mobley of Fitzgerald and Frances G. Wall of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; three brothers, A.A. "Buck" Williamson and J.W. Williamson, both of Fitzgerald, and T.M. Williamson of Waycross; and two sisters, Adele Land and Verlion Smith, both of Fitzgerald. Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald is in charge of arrangements.
Joyce C. Prescott, 67, of Fitzgerald, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at her residence. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery. Mrs. Prescott is survived by two daughters, Peggy P. Lee of Alma and Jane P. Harden of Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Paulk Funeral Home in Fitzgerald.
