Jewell Odessa Kirkland
NASHVILLE -- Jewell Odessa Kirkland, 97, of Nashville, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Berrien Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home. Elder Robert Skinner will officiate. Burial will follow at Long Bridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 2 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Lovein Funeral Home in Nashville.
Born June 7, 1904, in Berrien County, Mrs. Kirkland was the daughter of Charlie D. Mathis and Lizzie Connell, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by three sons, Eugene Griffin, Jack Griffin and J. D. Smith.
Mrs. Kirkland was a homemaker and a member of Long Bridge primitive Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Genevieve Guthrie of Nashville; one son, Lamar Griffin of Bartow, Fla.; one sister, Madelyn Wallace of Apopka, Fla.; one brother, Lankford Mathis of Nashville; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
Lovein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Hollie Beck Ray
TIFTON -- Hollie Beck Ray, 33, of Tifton, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Chapel Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The Rev. Bill Daley Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at New River Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Bowen-Donaldson.
Born Nov. 17, 1968, Mrs. Ray was the daughter of Hollis Beck Sr. of Adel and Earlene Mitchell of Tifton.
She was a homemaker and a member of Springhill Baptist Church.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Ray is survived by one son, Andy Ray of Enigma; one daughter, Nikki Beck of Enigma; one brother, Hollis Beck Jr. of Tifton; and three sisters, Carol Harrell of Tifton, Rita Norman of Worth County and Tammy Dean of Irwin County.
Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements.
Laura Futch Watkins, 70, of Douglas, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home. Survivors include one son, Alton Smith of Palm Bay, Fla.; four daughters, Betty Pugh of Orlando, Fla., Shirley Bennett of Douglas, Faye Butler of Pavo and Raye Strickland of Thomasville; four brothers, W. L. Futch and John Futch, both of Fitzgerald and Robert Futch and Gene Futch, both of Douglas; and three sisters, Marie Smith of Orlando, Fla., Carolyn Miller and Nellie Purvis, both of Douglas. Paulk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dale Faulkner Fountain, 46, of Adel, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at her residence after a lengthy illness. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Purvis Funeral Home of Adel.
