TIFTON -- Included among the many indictments handed out Thursday by the grand jury were those for a Tifton man accused of murdering an elderly south Tifton man and a 24-year-old accused of killing an Ocilla man after running a stop sign back in May of 2003.
Calvin Lorraine Moore was indicted Thursday on murder, felony murder and aggravated assault charges for the killing of Lucious Harris on June 11.
In the indictment, prosecutors claim that Moore beat and strangled Harris before leaving his body near the railroad tracks off of Roswell Road where it was found around 3 a.m. Prosecutors also allege that Moore assaulted Harris with an unknown object.
The grand jury also indicted Charles Matthew Jackson on four counts of vehicular homicide, four counts of driving under the influence, and failure to stop for a stop sign.
Authorities believe Jackson ran a stop sign at the intersection of 20th Street and Love Avenue and collided with a car driven by Sonny Walker in May 2003. Walker later died at the hospital.
Prosecutors allege that Jackson was driving under the influence of marijuana, alcohol and the prescription drug hydrocodone when he crashed into Walker's car last year.
