Taylor Made manufactures tempered safety glass windshields, canvas and Plexiglas components for sale to boat builders. The operation grew from an original 13 to more than 100 employees in 2004.

"We have been impressed with the professionalism and outstanding work ethic of the Tifton work force," said Randy Parker, president of Taylor Made Systems. "We expect our new plant will result in additional new employment opportunities in the Tifton area."

Parker said Rick Johnson, general manager of the Taylor Made Systems Georgia operations, has been with the company since 1994. Johnson said Wednesday that 10 of the first 13 employees he hired are still working for the company.

Johnson said the company now employs 122 associates and expects to hire 80 more employees in the next 18 months.

"We have developed close ties to the Tifton community and economy," Johnson said. "Not only are we a major employer, but we also rely heavily on local suppliers of raw materials to manufacture our products."

The company is based in Gloversville, N.Y., and claims the title of the world's largest manufacturer of marine glazing systems and the leader in framed glass windshield technology for powerboats. Other marine products include hatches, doors, window systems, portlights and canvas boat tops. The company also supplies glass products for a variety of architectural, agricultural and industrial applications.
