TIFTON -- Who has the best pork chops in town or gives the best haircut or is the best in law enforcement?

Those answers, according to Tifton Gazette readers, and many more favorites will be chosen over the next two weeks in the Best of Tift County contest. The ballot will be included in editions of The Gazette until the June 3 deadlines. Winners will be announced in a special section to be published at the end of June.

"I'm excited about this year's Best of Tift County annual survey," said Gazette Advertising Director Darrin Wilson. "Readers and advertisers all look forward to seeing who the best in Tift County is according to our readers."

Ballots must come from The Gazette and copies or facsimiles will not be accepted. Readers can vote as many times as they like.

The Best of Tift County/Readers' Choice awards have gained popularity over the years and businesses that are selected the best often use that recognition to promote their business throughout the year.

This year, Wilson said, new categories have been added to give readers even more options.

"We get hundreds of ballots each year," Wilson said. "We'll be presenting it in a little different format this year and I think our readers will be happy with it.

"I think businesses like to get a chance to see how they rank amongst their peers," Wilson added. "A lot of them spend thousands of dollars a year to see how they stand in people's eyes. This is kind of an informal way to let them know how they're perceived by the general readership of The Gazette."
