TIFTON — South Tifton Learning Center and Lester STEM Program will hold its 5th annual Community Giving Back Brunch of Sat. Nov. 30 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Melanie Lester, who runs both STLC and the STEM program says that she started the tradition because the soup kitchen in Tifton and churches are often closed on Christmas and Thanksgiving. Lester chooses either holiday to give back to the community each year.

“I wanted to give back a hot meal for people in the community who might go without,” said Lester.

Lester opened STLC, a non-profit organization, out of her home in 2000. As well as many tutoring programs for Tift County students, STLC also provides clothes, blankets and hygiene products year-around for members of the community.

The brunch will be held in the front yard of South Tifton Learning Center at 2304 Dorminey Street.
