TIFTON — A heat advisory is in effect for Tift County, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures in the mid to upper 90s are are leading to a heat index of 108-112 Farenheigt, according to NWS.

NWS advises that the “risk of heat related illness will be greater for those without air conditioning, especially the elderly, infants, and pets.”

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors, according to NWS.

The advisory is in effect until 8 p.m.
