On the 2020 Election Day Tift County Poll Workers worked until late tabulating votes

Poll workers in Tift County tabulate votes Nov. 3 during Election Day. The runoff election will combine the vote for public service commissioner and the Senate runoffs Jan. 5.

TIFTON – Tift County elections and registration officials have been conducting a state-mandated hand recount for the 2020 election results that will be open to the public.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger ordered the hand recount of votes for the state. He said during a press conference, "With the margin being so close, it will require a full by hand recount in each county. This will help build confidence."

The recount is open to the public but masks are required to enter county buildings, as mandated by the Tift County Board of Commissioners.

Recounting started 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13. The location of the recount will be in the Old Gym, 222B Chesnutt Ave. More information, call (229) 386-7915.
