Georgia Power helps fill the electric vehicle charging gap in Tifton

Georgia Power added two new electric vehicle charging stations in Tifton.

TIFTON — Georgia Power has launched two new electric vehicle chargers at the La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham, 1215 U.S. 82 West, filling an electric transportation infrastructure gap along Interstate 75 between Cordele and Valdosta, utility representatives said in a statement.

Georgia Power now has 46 fast-charger installations. The company previously installed 44 fast chargers to serve the growing EV population in Georgia. Charging at the station will be complimentary to all drivers through the end of November.

The charging station is capable of 62.5 kW output, and stations can pair together to offer 125 kW paired with PLUS 1x dual port Level 2 charging for overnight guests. Charging sessions require ChargePoint authorization, which is available at www.georgiapower.chargepoint.com

The installation represents the newest technology in EV fast chargers, offering charging speeds up to 125kW – adding 100 miles in 12 minutes – dual dispensers and power sharing capability. Earlier this year, Georgia Power installed chargers in Rome, Columbus, Lavonia, Kingsland and Milledgeville, utility representatives said.

Georgia Power will invest $6 million during the next three years in fast-charging EV infrastructure for the public, further enabling electric vehicle adoption and connecting communities.

Georgia Power representatives said the company is committed to growing the electric vehicle market and is "dedicated to providing customers with the resources they need to learn more about the benefits and potential savings of driving electric."
