TIFTON — The Citizens of Georgia Power Tifton chapter, as well as local line crews, spent their day volunteering at Second Harvest of South Georgia’s new warehouse location in Tift County on Aug. 9.
Employee volunteers worked together to build shelving for the expanded location. The Georgia Power Foundation also donated the shelving supplies to the food bank, which supports residents in 26 counties in South Georgia.
With the longtime support of Georgia Power through financial donations and volunteering, Second Harvest of South Georgia was able to support 400 partner agencies in the region and distribute more than 20 million pounds of food last year.
Every year, each Citizen chapter completes a “legacy” project in their respective community that will leave a lasting impact. Funds for the project are provided by the Georgia Power Foundation, the non-profit arm of Georgia Power Company that has been responsible for sustaining strategic giving initiatives for more than 30 years.
