Billy Willeby

Billy Willeby of Coolidge shows the pieces of a device he proposes to ensure power during a blackout. A car battery hooks to the electric motor, the left-hand object on the board. The battery provides direct current to the power converter in his hands, which the converter changes to alternating current so appliances could be plugged into it. Meanwhile, the electric motor operates a car alternator, the right-hand object on the board, which Willeby said would constantly recharge the battery, just like it does in a running automobile. The device wasn’t hooked up, so Willeby couldn’t provide a demonstration when this photo was taken.
