TIFTON — Though Downtown Tifton will not see a return of its Hometown Holidays event for the 2021 holiday season, residents welcomed one special event marching down Main Street once again.

Tifton's annual Christmas parade returned for Saturday, Dec. 4, as part of the Downtown Development Authority's first-ever Merry on Main Street event, authority members said in a statement.

Beginning 5 p.m., the parade included marching bands, floats, vintage cars and performing arts groups marching through Downtown Tifton, as well as an appearance from a special guest: Santa Claus himself.

The parade began 5 p.m., at the intersection between 2nd Street and Magnolia Avenue. From there, the parade travels east on 2nd, turns left onto Main Street and continues from there to its endpoint at the corner of 8th Street and Love Avenue near Walgreen's Pharmacy.
