TIFTON — A peaceful protest is being planned in Tifton on June 19.
The protest, which the organizers call the Black Lives Matter Peaceful Protest Rally, is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. outside the Tift County courthouse.
“We were all deeply troubled by the injustice that is going on in the world today and decided to do our part to be the change that we want to see in the world in hopes to inspire change in others,” one of the organizers, Nyshanti Ross, said. “Through this peaceful protest we are hoping to unite the community and make sure that our voices are heard by local officials.”
The event’s Facebook page says that masks will be required to be worn because of the risk of COVID-19.
