TIFTON — Local, state and federal offices are closing to the public. Many of them offer online services or other ways to conduct business.

Customers and residents may experience some alteration in how normal business is being conducted.

All customers and residents are asked to to as much online or over the phone as possible to follow social distancing guidelines.

Local

• City of Tifton

Access to City Hall is limited; all customers may ring the doorbell and a customer service representative will come to the door. Customers may pay their bills online or through the drive-thru.

The Leroy Rogers Senior Center, Tift Theatre for the Performing Arts are closed until further notice.

• Tift County

Tift County government offices have closed to the public.

Services will continue to be provided, but access to county buildings and facilities will be restricted to those who have made an appointment. Residents needing to conduct business should contact the department by phone or email.

Tift Lift will still operate but is limited to essential services and has a limit of two passengers at a time.

The Tift County Recreation Department, Neighborhood Service Center are closed until further notice.

Tax Commissioner services will be available online.

Motor vehicle taxes can be paid online at https://eservices.drives.ga.gov.

Property and mobile home taxes can be paid online at http://gtc.gor.ga.gov.

• Tift County Court System

Superior Court, State Court, Probate Court, Juvenile Court, Magistrate & all Accountability Court operations will have limited public access.

State

• Department of Public Health

The DPH is monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and is posting a daily status report at https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-19-daily-status-report.

Updates are provided at noon and 7 p.m. each day.  

• Georgia Division of Family and Children Services

DFCS is encouraging everyone to use the online service portal to apply for and check benefits, upload documents and report case changes.

The services administered by DFCS include Health Coverage, Child Care and Parent Services, Food Stamps (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Women, Infants and Children (WIC).

• Georgia Department of Driver Services

DDS has suspended all commercial and non-commercial road testing until further notice.

Most services can be accessed through the department’s website, www.dds.georgia.gov or the mobile app, DDS 2 GO.

• Georgia Department of Labor

The GDOL is temporarily suspending in-person services, but is providing online access to unemployment services at https://dol.georgia.gov/.

Federal

• Internal Revenue Service

The tax deadline has been extended until July 16 for both state and federal taxes.
