Georgia Firebirds recognized

Tifton Mayor Jamie Cater issued a proclamation of praise for the Georgia Firebirds at Monday night's Tifton City Council meeting. Firebirds owner, Darrien Teals, accepted the proclamation with his team gathered at his back. Cater said, "Tifton has a semi-pro football team. Who would have thought we would have that? And they're not just any team. They finished 13-zip this season with the regional championship. They're a great team, but they're more than just a football team. They spend time working with our young people and serving as good role models. They also work with our senior center, and just do a lot to get involved in and benefit our community. We need to all turn out for the Firebird games next season and show them our support just as they are supporting our community. They are a team to be proud of."
