TIFTON — Meeting

TY TY — The City of Ty Ty council meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at City Hall.

Donations Needed

TIFTON — The Salvation Army needs donations of canned food items and clothing. They are also looking for volunteers. Come by The Salvation Army Service Center. at 1205 HWY 82 E. Tifton. Store hours are 10-6 Monday- Saturday.

Tift County

Land Maps

TIFTON — The Tift County land maps are still available, 1910 and 1929 at $10 each. The Georgia State Map in color dated 1885 is now available for $10 also. The earlier State Historic map showing Indian Trails and historic sites in Georgia is still available for a donation. Call Gladys Wiseman at 382-4137 to get your map. Tifton City Maps are also available at the Mormon Church Family Life Center for your viewing: 1898, 1903,1912, and 1924, compliments of Bob Gressette. Call Jim Golden at 392-3905 to set up a time to view these maps at the Mormon Church. The Tift County Heritage Book is still available for $70. The sale of these maps and the book is sponsored by the Tift County Genealogical Society. Three of these maps were donated to TCGS by Sally Atwater Carmichael, originally from Tifton, who received them from her mother, Sara Cochran Atwater, past Regent of the Tallassee Chapter NSDAR.

Heritage Books

TIFTON — The Tift County Genealogical Society has less than 70 of the Heritage Books of Tift County (1905-2003), second printing, left to sell.  They are $70 each. Please call Bill Wiseman at 382-4137; Jean Courson at 382-1046; or Raymond Howell at 776-3630; or see at “Tift Eye Care” or  “Moon’s Pharmacy.”

Donations Needed

TIFTON — The Children's Department is currently seeking donations of new or gently used LEGO® pieces in order to start a LEGO® Club this fall. Please bring donations to the Children's desk at the Tifton-Tift County Public Library at 245 Love Ave. For tax purposes, donation forms will be available upon request. Questions?
