Bergeron named academic All-American

PRATT, Kan. — Twelve Pratt Community College wrestlers have been named to the 2013-14 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All-Academic Team, including Beau Bergeron of Tifton. In order to receive this award, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

“I am very proud of these individuals,” said head wrestling coach Ken Kepley. “This couldn’t have been done without the help of the faculty, advisors and Student Success staff members.”

During Kepley’s tenure at PCC, the wrestling team has posted 26 Academic All-Americans. The 2012-13 team had the highest team GPA of any NJCAA wrestling team in the nation with a 3.25, and the 2013-14 season marks six consecutive semesters with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The NWCA, which gives out the award, governs all divisions in wrestling, including the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, II and III, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA).
