Ed Pilcher hired as next football coach at Berrien

TIFTON —

Ed Pilcher was hired Tuesday night as the new head coach of the Berrien Rebels, according to BHS principal Angie Lovein.

Pilcher, who resigned from Bainbridge in late January, has also been head coach at Early County and Thomas County Central, compiling five state championships at Central and an overall record of 241-94-1. He was also an assistant coach at Berrien under Bill McCall from 1983 to 1985.

He replaces Rob Armstrong as the Rebels head coach. Armstrong took a coaching position at Clark Atlanta University last month.

The Gazette will have more details later.
