TIFTON — In a press release, Tift County Schools officials said the following:
At approximately 9:30 a.m. a phone call was received stating there was a bomb at Tift County High School. Emergency procedures were immediately implemented. All students and staff were evacuated to the football practice field away from the main high school building.
Local law enforcement officials responded and conducted an initial sweep of the property. They then began an in-depth room-to-room search of the high school. No students are being allowed to leave, so school officials are asking everyone to stay where they are and not attempt to go to the high school.
More details will be given as the situation progresses.
