Rants & Raves - December 5

While driving down 20th Street today, I observed a very pretty German shepard trying to ride on the back of this nice extended cab truck. The truck had buckets on the back. Apparently the dog didn't want to be on the truck. I had to hold my breath because he went from one side to the other. Then he almost fell off in front of my car. He had half his body hanging over the truck. I went around the truck because I didn't want to see the dog killed when he fell off. There needs to be a law against this. If you're the one who was driving this truck, I blew my horn trying to tell you your dog almost fell out. He was hanging over the driver's side.
Is the law violated when business partners serve on the same governing board? This is worth investigating.
After watching the December City Council meeting, I am afraid our city is doomed when the vote is determined by members who seem afraid to cross the mayor!
I have a dare for the City Council. I dare all of you to go drive through Red Bird, Town and Country, Captain's Point and Ferry Lake trailer parks. All of them are inside the city limits and all of them are as nasty and filthy as the landfill. Where is code enforcement? Why are the owners of these properties allowed to operate slums inside our city? All this fuss over sign ordinances and frivolous issues and we have a perfect setting for the spread of disease and vermin. I'm betting that none of the council will look into this because they are either scared or just don't care.
I wasn't there but reports seem to indicate that the mayor took differences on issues to the personal level at the recent city council meeting. If he did, I don't it was the first time. His letter to The Gazette about his differences with the Harper group about the use of some old building contained some sniping, as the editor puts it. For once, I agreed with the editor about what we should do with the snipers.
