Ronald Wilbur West

TIFTON — Ronald Wilbur West, 72, of Tifton, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. The Rev. Jim Wiley will officiate with Guy Haynes delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors.

Von McKee, David Cone, Chris Hudgins, Scott McBrayer, Donald Smith and Jerry Hobbs will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Darrel McKee, the 1st John Sunday school class of Eastside Baptist Church, Benny Knight, Jimmy Norman, Gus Upshaw and the staff of McKee Auto Center.

Mr. West was born July 28, 1941 in Worth County, attending school in Omega. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Reba Blankenship West, one brother, Michael West and two brothers-in-law, Glen McKee and Larry McBee.

Mr. West served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a mechanic for McKee’s Auto Center and loved all his friends and family there. Mr. West was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton. He was an avid fisherman, NASCAR and Braves baseball fan who enjoyed having breakfast with his close friends. Mr. West was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family and mostly his grandchildren who were the center of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Simmons West of Tifton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Willis Marchant, and Rhonda and Ronnie Dillard; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Winston and Patsy West and John West, all of Tifton; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Maxine McKee of Tifton, Edna McBee of Ty Ty, and Pam and Billy Tucker of Newnan; four grandchildren, Ryan Marchant, Cassidy Dillard, Brandon Dillard and Austin Dillard.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Hospice of Tift Area, P.O. Box 747, Tifton, GA 31793.
