Samuel Watson

VIENNA — Samuel Watson, 61, of Vienna, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013 at his residence following a lengthy illness.  Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services. Burial will be at Zion Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born in Tift County and was the son of the late Louis and Gladys Hobbs Watson. Mr. Watson was a retired truck driver and an active member of Joy Fellowship Church. A lover of gospel music, he attended sings throughout the area and sung with many groups, including The Thankful Hearts.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Betty Jean Watson of Vienna; his children, Samantha Watson Hall and her husband, David, and Michael Cory Watson, all of Vienna; a sister, Margaret Dillard of Tifton; four brothers and their wives, Junior and Barbara Watson of Tifton, Sonny and Connie Watson of Madison, Fla., and Bud and Betty Watson and Bobby and Faye Watson, all of Albany.  Arrangements are by Rainey Family Funeral Services.
