Kansas to honor Windom

TIFTON — Dylan Windom left the Tift County Lady Devils tennis program for Kansas University four years ago and after a career in Jayhawk blue, will be honored Sunday during senior week when the team plays Texas.

Windom's career with the Jayhawks has seen her make an impact in all four years. As a freshman, she had a 15-7 spring record in doubles competition with partner Ekaterina Morozova and the two were named All-Big 12 doubles. She also lead the team in singles wins and was named the team's most improved player and hardest worker.

That fall, she and Morozova were invited to the ITA/Riviera Women's All-American championships and to the ITA Regional as both a doubles and singles player. Her junior year, she entered the season ranked No. 25 in doubles, with Monica Pezzotti as her partner. Later, paired with Belen Luduena, she was third in San Diego State's Fall Classic Red Draw.

During the spring of 2013, she had continued success as a singles and doubles player, including a win with Maria Jose Cardona over Iowa State to help Kansas make it to the second round of the Big 12 tournament. Through Friday, she had a career total of 62 singles victories and 58 more in doubles.

She has not just been a success on the courts. Windom was selected to represent the team on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and is one of 15 student-athletes to work with Director of Athletics, Dr. Sheahorn Zenger, on athletic department affairs. She is also set to graduate in December, having majored in economics and minored in business.
