Lady Devils rule court against Valdosta

TIFTON — The Tift County Lady Devils improved their season record Thursday with a big win over the Valdosta Lady Wildcats. They won 5-0, while the boys fell just short, 3-2.

None of the Lady Devils lost a set in their battles with Valdosta players. Jordan Hill did not even drop a game, defeating A. Parks, 6-0, 6-0. Keri Lee Futch only lost one against Abby Simmons and took a 6-1, 6-0 win.

No. 1 singles, Taylor Whitehead defeated A. Orenstein, 6-3, 6-2 and the both doubles teams had easy victories as well. Heather Sattler and Rebekah Crumley won over Aneesa Chowdlay and C. Swift, 6-0, 6-2 and Megan Bowen and Rachel Wall beat Tanisha Bhaynan and Josie Smith, 6-1, 6-3.

The Blue Devils had victories from their doubles teams. Bennett Gibbs and Dillon Kemeness won 6-1, 6-4 over C. Shearer and E. Imgram and Grant Cordle and Matt Marsh were 6-1, 6-0 winners against C. Molley and W. Henry.

In singles matches, Collin Summerlin fell to A. Greneker, 6-1, 6-0. Quay Clark won the middle set, 6-3, against Eddie Taylor, but dropped the first 6-2 and fell on a tiebreaker in the third, 7-6 (7-3). Bailey Lawson lost in straight sets to T. Williams, 6-2, 6-7 (7-2).

The teams were scheduled to play Colquitt County Friday, but had those postponed because of rain.
