Arts in Black set for this weekend, rain or shine

TIFTON — The annual Arts in Black Festival is set for this weekend. The event kicks off Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Tift Theatre for the Performing Arts with talent exhibitions. Tickets are $8 and will be available at the door. Doors open at 6:30. Winners will perform during the festival on Saturday.

On Saturday, things are scheduled to kick off at Fulwood Park at 11 a.m. In the event of rain, the event will move to the gym at Tift County High School.

The Guerilla Dance Project will be featured during the opening ceremonies. Performances by local acts and others will be held on the Syd Blackmarr stage, as well as the second stage located near the rocket.

Food and crafts vendors will be on site, as well as clowns, dancing, music, balloons and face painting, in addition to the barrel train ride. Health care vendors will also be on hand.

On Sunday, a poetry competition will be held at the Tifton Welcome Station at 3 p.m., featuring special guests Poetic Magic.
