Tennis teams trounce TCC

TIFTON —  The Tift County Blue Devil tennis teams faced a band of Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets at home Tuesday and were the ones doing the stinging. Central won only one of 10 matches in a Tift double victory.

The Lady Devils, who went 5-0, did not even surrender a set to their opponents. No. 1 singles and doubles won their matches by identical scores: Taylor Whitehead defeated K. Johnson, 6-1, 6-0 and Heather Sattler and Rebekah Crumley won over S. Roberson and E. Dukes won by the same.

Keri Lee Futch and Jordan Hill rounded out singles. Futch beat H. Jones, 6-1, 6-1 and Hill defeated A. Barrett, 6-1, 6-2. The other doubles team, Megan Bowen and Rachel Wall were winners over T. McCorkle and K. Jones, 6-2, 6-2.

For the Devils, the No. 1 doubles team, Bennett Gibbs and Dillon Kemeness posted a shutout over N. Luudecke and D. Howard, 6-0, 6-0 and No. 2 doubles nearly did the same. Adam Sattler and Matt Marsh were winners against Jimmy Johnson and P. Jackson, 6-0, 6-1.

In singles, Collin Summerlin won 6-2, 6-0 over D.J. Hufstettler. Quay Clark dominated H. Green, 6-1, 6-0 and Bailey Lawson fell short against Z. Johnson.

The teams were scheduled to go to Bleckley County Wednesday.
