Lady Panthers beat Valwood

TIFTON — The Tiftarea Academy Lady Panther and Panther soccer teams opened their season with a split against the Valwood Valiants on Tuesday.  Coach Kendall Vance’s Lady Panthers came away with a 7-3 victory over the Valdosta team, opening with a score from senior Neeli Fortson.

Led by seniors Fortson, Lauren Goforth and Ali Rippy, the Lady Panthers stayed ahead of the Valiants the entire game. Fortson put in another score and teammate Rippy had her own score from midfield.

Junior Morgan Strenth added to the lead with two goals of her own while two more juniors Emilee Morehead and Pehn Sheffield netted their own goal. Their defense was anchored by goalie Goforth and defenders Katie Massa, Mary Spencer Veazey and Courtney Beier.

The Panthers went up against the Valiants but fell in a hard fought game 4-0.  The Chula team was lead by seniors Britton Robinzsch and Austin Tenneson running the offense and junior Austin Willis and later Trey Phillips in the goal for the Panthers.
