Rants & Raves - May 13

The people in the tifton regional library are nice and friendly not like the person in the Rants & Raves talked about.
It is Wednesday night and there it is... very obvious tonight: a smoke smell over the north side of Tifton. About two or three days we are closing the windows on these very nice days of May thinking there is a faint smell in the air. It pulls into the house. Where does it come from? Why on earth does nobody stop them "pesting" up the air over Tifton? You go work outside and your nose is starting to burn, your eyes are feeling dry, and your stomach is feeling queasy. You do not need to run to your allergist, drugstore or wonder why you and your kids have asthma. Call the fire department, if it is your neighbor in the city limits. Call the forestry department and see if they know who does the burnings, where it is and ask them to stop the people doing the burnings especially on days with winds blowing it into Tifton, or where there is an inversion layer keeping the invisible smoke smell over Tifton making us feel sick. It is a shame that we have to live like this...not to mention the overall environmental pollution impact these burnings have on destroying the ozone layer.
I am not sure what these urgent care places are for. I thought we had these to keep people out of the ER. My mother was having an allergic reaction and needed a Benadryl, a Pepcid and a cortisone shot. We were turned away and sent to the ER for this. $150 copay and no telling what the bill will be. Shame on you.
Guess what all you ACA haters. It is here. We are paying the taxes to expand medicare/medicaid. Why should me not accept funds. Would you prefer the funds go to another state because that is what is happening. Are you really that stupid? It is called cutting your nose off to spite your face.
Instead of the university "testing" sod on people's home lawns around town perhaps they should "test" it around their own buildings. The landscaping around UGA Tifton could use some beautification.
