Grand opening for Jo-Ann Fabric and Crafts set for April 24-26

TIFTON — Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, the leading fabric and craft specialty retailer in America, is celebrating the grand opening of the new Tifton Jo-Ann April 24. However, the “soft opening” will be Friday.

According to a press release, sewing and crafting enthusiasts in the Tifton area now have a new resource for shopping and saving on a wide selection of merchandise to inspire their creative endeavors. From sewing and quilting to knitting, jewelry-making, scrapbooking and more, this store offers an outstanding range of crafting, floral and seasonal accessories, an extensive selection of fabrics for apparel, quilting and home decorating, as well as many home decor items. Join the celebration April 24-26 at the Tifton Mall, 612 Virginia Ave. N.

“As we open this new store, we are pleased to offer our sewing and crafting customers more of what they want — exciting new product lines, higher quality fabrics, better in-store presentations and regionalized product offerings,” said Travis Smith, CEO and president of Jo-Ann. “The passion and expertise of our store team members, combined with insightful project inspiration, will make this new store a one-stop creative destination in this community.”

Grand opening festivities will begin April 24 and continue through April 26 with doors opening at 9 a.m. each day. On April 24, a ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Jamie Cater will take place 15 minutes prior to the 9 a.m. store opening. Here are the exciting activities happening at this store during the three-day grand opening celebration: Enter to Win - for the chance to win a $500 Jo-Ann shopping card (contest open to legal U.S. residents who have reached age of majority. No purchase necessary. See store for complete details and rules); Mystery Giveaway - the first 100 guests each day will receive a Jo-Ann shopping card ranging in value from $10-$250 (adults only; limit one per customer); Hot Savings – special grand opening sales and offers throughout the store; Free Reusable Tote Bag – customers who spend $20 or more each day will receive a free tote bag (while supplies last); Free Jo-Ann Creative Demonstrations – each day starting at 9 a.m. April 24 and 11 a.m. April 25 and April 26; Learn with Jo-Ann – open house for classes from 1 to 3 p.m. April 26 (save 50 percent on select classes); and Make It-Take It – kids can make their own craft to take home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 26 (while supplies last).

In celebration of this new location, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores will make a donation to support local education. One school in the community will receive a $2,000 grant, which will be used to fund the educational project of its choosing. In addition, coin boxes are located near store cash registers to collect donations to support various national charitable organizations.

The company, team members and generous customers provided more than $72,000 through the coin box donations in 2013. Finally, this new store will participate in merchandise donation programs to benefit national nonprofit partners, including The Kids In Need Foundation.

“As a proud community supporter, Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores is pleased to be able to make an impact locally, not only during our grand opening celebrations, but in our ongoing efforts,” Smith said.

Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores, the nation’s leading fabric and craft retailer with locations in 49 states, was founded in 1943 as a single retail store. Today, more than 830 Jo-Ann stores across the country provide consumers with creative inspiration. For additional information, visit www.joann.com/tifton.
