WGTC takes wild win over ABAC

TIFTON —  The ABAC Stallions exploded for 10 runs Tuesday, but found themselves on the short end of the score against West Georgia Technical College. WGTC hammered out 15 runs for the 15-10 win.

As wild as the scoring was, they had no part in it until the 3rd. Three runs in that inning and two more in the 4th gave them a 5-4 lead, which lasted only a half-inning, as WGTC scored three in the 5th. ABAC tied it again with two in the bottom half of the frame, but their opponent responded with four in the 6th and they were not able to catch up again.

Several Stallions participated in the hit parade. Ricky Carpenter collected three and Jacob Baxter, Lane Dixon, Gant Davis and Trevor Moncrief all had two each. A.J. Benefield made it on base only once, but it was via a 2-run homer in the 5th. The only other extra base hit was a double by Dixon.

RBIs came from Baxter (2), Benefield (2), Dixon, Davis, Moncrief and Carpenter.

Robert Nelson took the loss, giving up 7 runs, 6 earned, in four innings of work.

The two will meet at Douglasville with a game Friday and a doubleheader Saturday. The next game in Tifton will be Tuesday against Darton State.
