Man loses control of his truck near middle school

TIFTON — A one-vehicle accident occurred Tuesday morning after a man lost control of his truck and ran off the road onto the Eighth Street Middle School practice field.

According to an accident report filed at the Tifton Police Department, the driver of a white 2007 Chevrolet Silverado reported that he was traveling north on Magnolia Drive and lost control of his vehicle at approximately 10:42 a.m. He said he didn't know why or how he lost control.

The vehicle went through the ditch and hit a fence at the practice field of ESMS. It went under the fence, causing damage to two fence posts. The vehicle then continued onto the school's track and came to a stop at the north end of the track.

The vehicle was checked and driven off of the track by an officer. There were no noted defects to the vehicle, the report states. There were also no skid marks or yaw marks of any kind on the roadway or on the grass.

Following the accident, Tift County Schools' posted on their Facebook page that students practicing on the field were not injured or harmed.
