Dan H. Scarborough


Dan H. Scarborough, 76, of Tifton died Saturday, May 24, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with the Rev. Ronnie Howell officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Methodist Church Cemetery in Tifton with military honors. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. His nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Scarborough was born Sept. 17, 1937 in Worth County to the late Henry Elton and Elmer Harris Scarborough. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Edith Fowler. He retired from the United States Army as a master sergeant after 24 years. During his service to our nation, Mr. Scarborough served one tour of duty in Korea, two in Germany, one in France and two tours in Vietnam. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, as well as the Medal For Meritorious Service. Following his retirement from the military, he worked for 15 years with the city of Tifton.
Mr. Scarborough is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lynda Ruth Miller Scarborough of Tifton; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Debbie Scarborough of Tifton and Russell and Connie Scarborough of Waterloo; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Geneva Scarborough of Ty Ty; a sister, Nettie Mae Pope of Sylvester; and three grandsons, Jake Scarborough, Jimmy Scarborough and Damion Scarborough.
