Rain does not damper annual Christmas parade

TIFTON — The rain held back just in time Saturday evening as citizens lined the streets in downtown Tifton to enjoy another year of Tifton’s downtown Christmas parade. Mayor Jamie Cater was the Grand Marshal, and Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus appeared on a Tifton-Tift County fire truck near the end of the parade to wave to onlookers. The annual Hometown Holiday Celebration also involved the Lighting of the Christmas Tree at Veterans Memorial Park, live entertainment and various activities for the children to enjoy. Following the lighting of the tree, the Georgia National Guard Tifton 110th CSSB gave away 600 free toys.
