Man arrested in connection with March shooting

TIFTON — A local man has been arrested in connection with a March shooting.

Lt. Lee Dunston with the Tifton Police Department Criminal Investigations Division wrote in a press release Friday that Demario Carridine, 26, of Tifton was arrested and charged with aggravated assault in a shooting incident that occurred March 28 in the area of Elm Street and Bellview Avenue.

He said Detective Ferron Yi with the TPD investigated the incident and was granted an arrest warrant April 1. Carridine had been at large since then. Yi developed information that led to a possible location in Lowndes County.

On Wednesday, Yi, along with members of the TPD and Tift County SRT, went to Lowndes County. Carridine was arrested at the address in Lowndes County with the assistance of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Secret Service.

Dunston said the TPD is grateful to the other agencies that assisted with this investigation and arrest.

The TPD continues to investigate all of the shooting incidents in recent weeks. If anyone has information regarding the shootings, they are encouraged to call the TPD Criminal Investigations Division at 229-382-3132.
